I'm confused - did La Vallette suffer a torpedo hit or a mine hit? Or perhaps the caption on the picture should have referred to Jenkins which did hit a mine?

P.S. - Following correction has been filed in the next issue:

Correction!

In the previous edition of the “Star” there was unfortunately a mix-up between destroyers USS La Vallette and USS Jenkins. Jenkins was mined outside Makassar, La Vallette torpedoed near Koepang.
