British Ops Slapstick and Baytown

Post by Lobster »

Two operations executed by the British in Southern Italy. Anyone know where there's any information about them?

All I know from this is from Wikipedia. My understanding is that it was mainly an engineering operation, to be honest, whereby a small German kampfgruppe set about demolishing all the roads and the British then followed up behind fixing them. I don't think there was a great deal of fighting, except for right by Reggia where Folgore (EDIT: Nembo) fought a local delaying action.

"War? Huh. What is it good for?"
"Absolutely nothing."

A discussion of 'Baytown' is in this work, starting at page 180.

'Slapstick' is briefly discussed on pp 94-95 in:
