Let's take a look about the forces and losses. Below is statistics on turns 72 and 44.

Total forces numbers have not changed much during the period. Germany forces have increased 450000 men, 7000 guns, 300 panzers and 1000 planes. Soviet Union has 200000 men less, but tank numbers have increased by 1700.

Losses between turns 44 and 72:

Axis losses:

men 636,000
guns 11,200
AFV 3,100
planes 2,000

Soviet losses:

men 3,350,000
guns 52,000
AFV 14,000
planes 9,300

Nine million men lost. I don’t know how long the enemy can sustain this kind of losses. They must run out of reserves soon. I'm sure we will win this war next year.

The temperature falls below zero. All hell breaks loose near Moscow. Massive enemy assault forces our divisions to retreat near Naro-Fominsk.

Romanian forces are routing. They can’t even slow the enemy advance. 8th Romanian division has lost all but 900 men. We have to send reinforcements to this area as soon as possible. We can’t let the enemy cut the main Caucasus railroad.

We have some positive news as well. Grozny was captured. Another major oilfield is in our hands. The field is burning but we are going to repair it as soon as possible.

Mountan divisions are moving east along the Black Sea coastal road. We are hoping to capture Sukhumi and isolate enemy formations in the mountains.

We are not going to capture Baku oil fields this winter. It was decided to destroy those fields by air raids. Luftflotte 4 sent 122 long range bombers to bomb the Sabunchu oil field. Enemy fighters attacked unescorted bombers. 16 planes were shot down. Our total losses were 46 bombers. Oil production suffered 40% damages.

Another bombing run to Baku oil fields. 67 out of 118 bombers was lost. Bibi-Heybat oil field suffered 28% damages. These unescorted bombing runs become too costly. We can't afford these kind of losses.
