Not Seeing Soviet Attacks.

Post by username01 »

I'm not seeing when the Soviets attack my positions, like I could in WITE1. Also after the Soviet turn I'm unable to check If a battle has taken place or not? because you can only check battles on your current turn. Will it be better if I disable all the FOW buttons? Thanks in advance.

You should be able to see any battles from the previous turn using F11, just as in WiTE. If not, that would be an issue.

Can also use the battle tab in the commanders report, as well.

Thanks for directing me to the correct key press (F11) As to actually viewing engagements on the map, Is that to do with the combat resolution message level button? mine is currently set on 0.

Yes, if you set to 0 it wont show the combat resolution during turn. Set to 1 or higher to see.

yes 0 will just execute the event and you may see a retreat or rout but not the battle. I tend to find that #1 is great for the AI's turn as you get a quick clue as to where the battle is etc and #2 in my phase (I can then decide if I want to open the report for a more detailed look)

I'm still not seeing any battle reports (key F11) on the map (round circle showing a tank) at the start of my turn, after the A1 has moved. Also Not seeing any soviet engagements on my positions during the A1's move.

Example: I had the Minsk pocket completely surrounded at the end of turn two, yet most of the (invisible) Russian units escaped leaving just a few units visible in the box to mop up. I was rather hoping to see them on the map all bunched-up and visible with no escape. What are the actual settings for the 3 combat resolution boxes, in order for me to see combat engagements during the A1's turn.

I'm sure it's down to me not 'ticking the right boxes' - so to speak.

My thanks once again.

If you are on turn 2 then it is simple to explain: nothing shows up because the Soviets did not attack. Attacks start around turn 5, 6 if there are forces to attack with. It is likely the pocket was breached because it was not adequately held.

Yea, the AI won't really try to attack for first 4 turns or so.

It makes sense - they are of course retreating still...me duh! And still concentrated enough to break through my Panzer screen - I must have lazily assumed my motorised inf & anti-tank guns would have had a 'turkey-shoot'. Lesson learned.

I guess my combat resolution settings were okay then.

Thanks for the info.
