Calculating invasions

How do you calculate how many movement points it takes to move inland from a beach hex when invading? Often I found myself stranded on the beach with no movement left.

That is tough to say...since all units I have seen land with 2 movement left...

If you land and a ZOC is the next hex you can not move.
Also Jungle and rough terrain cost more than 2 movement.
Woods and forest would slow armor.
Outside that I think if it is 1 movement point normally you should be good to move.

Unlike normal movement I think the beach hex is considered your "first move" so you do not get a 1 hex move into say a ZOC hex like you normally do with ground units.

stjeand is right on target. The other thing to remember is that weather will make your move costs go up too.
