Speedy (Axis) vs SparkleyTits (SU) - Heading East. A Second Front is always a good idea....right?

Post by Speedysteve »

Hi Guys,

SparkleyTits and I have just started a 41GC server game. Firstly I had to play Sparkley with a username like that [;)][:D] This will be a private AAR with no Sparkley involvement.

Usual options (for me):

Full FOW
Manual Air war
Locked HQ's
Enhanced TB off

At present I'm unsure where exactly my main focus will be but it will likely not be Leningrad since I feel the terrain, up there, means a substantial effort is needed to take the place which I don't think justifies it vs the VP reward. As such all the Pz Gp's will advance in their alloted directions.

----------

For the Air phase I decided to use the tactic of standing down all bombing missions but using my 109's to take out the enemy in the air during the 1st week's ground advance. Here's the results of that:

AGN advance during the 1st week.

I'm averagely happy here and hope the pocket holds.....

109's were flown into Riga during the end of he week to provide air cover next week. A depot is setup as well

AGS. I deliberated a lot over what to do here. A small advance, activate Southern Front with a Lvov pocket, head east etc. In the end I f*cked up, achieved little and lost 111 tanks in 3 tough battles (circled below) with enemy Tank Divisions. Good effort Herr General, good effort.....

T2. I open the Situation Report and rejoice! Both pockets in AGN and AGC were opened. **** sake. What a great start to the war. I have a schnapps and think who I can blame for this before I report to the Fuhrer.....I think for an hour but can't find anyone else to blame.....****. Will need to think long and hard on my next moves.

Motorisation?

This is one of those games where it is not a good idea to play under the influence.[:)]

Ouch that's a hard pill to swallow on turn 2 friend. Might I suggest that in the future one practices turn 1 in SP and playing both sides to check and see of the pockets are breakable.

Best of Luck!

Thanks for the luck [;)]

I'm not a newb and have played both sides before (more so in WITE1 of course). Am I perfect? Of course not. Will I make mistakes? Of course. C'est la guerre!

T2 AGN....nothing dramatic here. Secured the pocket and Panzers units advanced northeast....lots of recon across all areas this turn to ascertain Soviet positions. No other air raids or Ground Support though as not needed right now....So AGN....strong Soviet concentrations around Pskov....

AGC. Quite happy here. Soviets withdrew with concentrations on the Dnepr and Land Bridge. Very happy to have taken Mogilev and I'm trying to give Pz Gp 2 and 3 options as to whether to flank or attack where is needed. Bialystock pocket should hold this week!

AGS - I deliberated here whether to advance 2/3 of Pz Gp 1 or to wait....I decided to cut off Lvov and all except 1 Pz Gp Division is resting in friendly territory to build up CPP....depends on what the Soviets do as to whether I pocket or broad advance next week....

Romania: An advantage of no Southern Front activation is it allowed me to make some decent gains here. Let's see
