A carrier hits the Italian sub off Gibraltar so we will retreat... for now.

Our u-boats head to port while the German fleet heads into the Atlantic, we want to move it to French Atlantic ports.

Germany builds the 9 panzer and set reinforce to 100, we have u-boats to repair.

Italy wants French North Africa. We only expend 10 landing craft to take Oran.

We actually want an Allied reaction here. Much better to know where we will be fighting them in 1941 (good defensive terrain), than having to worry about a full scale invasion somewhere.

If the UK fails to show up we will take Gibraltar.

The German fleet sinks 4 merchants and heads for Bordeaux.

The Illustrious CV inflicts 3 steps on the Giulio Cesare off Oran. Why were the Italian ships there? I blame the incompetent Italian admiral (me).

The UK sends a unit to Algiers, what we've been waiting for. von Küchler will be given a few infantry corps and responsibility for containing the Allies in the area.

Germany builds the 10 Panzer and Italy builds a mountain corps.

U-boats sink 2 merchants and take 4 step losses. How much bad luck can one have?

The Italian navy does its job and sinks a Vichy French corps sailing in to Algiers.

Germany sends 20 oil per turn to Italy and builds 2 u-boats.

In North Africa we will slowly advance and tie down/destroy as many Allied units as possible.
Unless they bring in tanks it's looking good.

Egypt is very well defended, I doubt they will send too many reinforcements.

Germany builds a u-boat and sets reinforce to 500.

Romania and Hungary both disband their airforces and build a small corps.

A UK mech unit is in Morocco, this can get interesting!

U-boats sink 3 merchants and take 8 step losses! I regret building a single u-boat.

Germany gets Heavy Armor 41, soon we will convert 1 and 2 Panzer.
Italy gets Assault 41.

Hungary builds an infantry division.

Sadly the British withdraw from Algiers. And set up some sort of odd defensive line in Morocco.

Italy loses a sub and we take 4 steps damage to the u-boat at Gibraltar.

Germany gets Assault tech 41 and Italy gets Breakthrough 41.
Romania builds an infantry division.

British fleets move "at night" so we cannot bomb them, even in port.
We abandon the idea of blockading Gibraltar for now.

Malta is empty, but it rains so the Italian paratrooper lands from the sea.
We are slowly going to reduce German commitment to Africa, and let the Italians take over.
Next turn Germany gets u-boat tech, and we'll start a real blockade of Gibraltar.

Heavy rains gives us the prefect opportunity to raid and blockade.

It's a turn of fleet battles, and sadly we lose every single engagement. I'm starting to think these dice are loaded.

U-boats sink 1 merchant, take 2 steps damage.

The German fleet sinks 4 merchants but in pouring rain is located in pursuit and suffers the Schliesen sunk and 5 other steps, all for 2 DD steps to the UK. And the fleets were evenly matched.

The Italian fleet does even worse, losing a CA and a BB and massive damage to all other units.

A British fleet is raiding the Med, sinking one Italian merchant.

U-boats sink 3 merchants and take 1 step damage.

Italian aircraft almost sink the Glorious off Taranto. Finally a semi-success. Is it our Naval Air tech that pays off or just luck? Who knows.
We also send out subs but of course all they manage to do is get themselves damaged.

Russia seems to be going to a carpet strategy, I can only assume they are build plenty of rifle corps.

UK invades Iraq.

U-boats cleverly went to the Carribean and sink... nothing.

German builds 20 supply trucks and sets reinforce to 50.
Finland disbands its airforce.

Iraq surrenders.

U-boats sink 6 merchants and 1 escort for 1 step damage.

Second turn of Blizzard in northern Russia, I think I will start Barbarossa later than I normally do.

Oddly enough I'm fairly happy with the strategic situation. The UK is fairly occupied with Italy on two fronts.
I did mean to take Norway and Greece in this game, but with the weather we had that just wasn't possible unless I wanted to do it in 1941.

Looks like no sooner than early June for Barbarossa.

The UK is cautiously advancing in Egypt. We'll see if the Italians can hold them off.

Our troops are tired and disorganized from the bad weather, but I don't see that we can wait another two weeks.
So Barbarossa it is... or not.
I cannot decide. Historically the attack began in June so, what the hell, the weather has been so terrible this whole game, let's wait one more turn.

The British are still timidly approaching in Egypt. They bomb the Italian mech this turn, and I make a note to send a fighter down here at some point.
