Stugs - Where best to use them

Post by con »

I am looking for some advice on using Stugs
Especially in the RtoL scenario
I know AFVs get punished in heavy urban fighting but historically Stugs were used as an Infantry assulty support weapon.
Is there an advantage attaching them as support units when taking a heavily fortified dense urban hex? Do they provide any modifiers to combat or are they treated the same as any AFV?
Thanks

I use them as a general CV boost but I rotate them heavily to reserve and back because of their heavy losses.
And when a STUG unit gets eliminated, I send the new unit to western europe to build up EXP.

Although, there may be better places to use them, I usually add one to each motorized division until the winter.

1. The number of stug battalions seems to correlate to the number of motorized divisions.
2. Adds some AFVs to the motorized division, which their 1941 TOEs lack any organic AFV support otherwise.
3. Seemed logical to bolster the motorized division a bit.

Around when the muds hit, I pull them back to OKH to help reduce some of the supply load and use them as a general fire brigade across the front in response to the SU offensive.
