Missing Command Points

Post by HOTEC »

17.3.3. states that the Armies type has 600 command points. However, the attachment shows 450 CP for the Germans. What should I do to increase from 450 to 600?

There doesn't appear to be a way to change the command points for ground or air units. It is probably hardcoded. Either there is an error in the manual, or the devs reduced the max level for an Air Army from 600 to 450 after the manual was produced. Either way the game appears to limit an Air Army such as a Luftflotte to 50 groups or 150 squadrons, which is massive and the screenshot shows that you are not even up to half of that maximum capacity.

In real life, if enormous numbers of additional groups were being deployed to a theatre they would have just created more Fliegerkorps and Luftflotte type commands. Since you don't even need to assign leaders to air HQs, it costs you nothing to create some more of these. Create Luftflotte 7 say (1-6 already in use) in the Editor and assign it to Axis Reserve and then you can deploy it to the map whenever you need?

Actually, it's an odd thing in the game that a player can't create a new Army, Army Group or AOG themselves on the fly using AP, they can only use ones that are provided by automatic deployment to the map at a set time, or made available to them in the reserves. Nor can they take an existing HQ and rename it, renaming only takes place by events set in the Editor. So, if you play the campaign right through does that mean you will end up with historical formation names even if your game didn't follow history?
