Matrix should re-list this

Post by mainsworthy »

Command Ops: Battles from the Bulge and many other now that new tech is available to run them, I installed it on win10 but did not do the C++ libruaries or Directx or .Net as win10 has everything , it was just a straight install.

then I found it has a desktop res option,, so I fired it up, . all these old games that now run on win 10 should be investigated by matrix

check when you can, I put diff stuff on now and then

The developers have moved to a different publisher.
Wargame, 05% of the time.
Play with Barbies 05% of the time.
Play with Legos 10% of the time.
Build models 20% of the time
Shopping 60% of the time.
Exlains why I buy em more than I play em.

So... what's the problem here? Did it cash? Did you have problems with running the game? ...?

I imagine people got fed up with the forever development of the supposed East Front version with dismounted ops which still hasn't seen the light of day. Over ten years since the last proper game was released.

There are some fine East Front scenarios for Command Ops 1 and 2. Look for Sharp End Gaming for Command Ops 2 - they are on the Steam workshop, the LnL site or SEG own blog site.

Also highly recommend the Caen scenarios for CO2 - Pegasus Bridge series I believe they are called. As good as any of the official scenarios.

I doubt we will ever see anything more for the original CO.

Cheers

Yeah, I was waiting for that for years as well. Another one bites the dust...

It's DISCONTINUED not necesarily becasue they're with LnL. Sure, it's probably a contributing factor but if they really wanted I reckon thay could probbaly still support the Matrix versions.***

Generally speaking, I think that Matrix games become "DISCONTINUED" when the devs don't want to continue support, roll out updates, etc. anymore. That may be for several reasons. It may indeed be becasue they're with another publisher, but there might be other reasons, such as the devs have disbanded, died, or the game is simply old. For example, note that Panzer Corps 1 is labeled as "DISCONTINUED," even though the devs are still alive and kicking (FLASHBACK GAMES) and still with Matrix/Slitherine; however, they've simply moved on to another project, which is Panzer Corps 2. Similarly, TOAW 3 is labeled as "DISCONTINUED" because there's no more work being done on it; instead, there's TOAW 4.

To sum up, I don't think that "DISCONTINUED" has any real significance, except that it meanes you should expect no further updates, expansions, etc.

***On the other hand, who knows, there might be some provisions in their new contract with LnL forbidding this kind of suuport... [&:] Or maybe they simply have no time to do both versions.

I am aware, that if you go asking, the current incarnation of Command Ops 2 has updates that are able to be applied to the older versions. But you have to seek them out where they is. And that is not here.
They are easy to connect with on Steam. And there is a lot of new content on the market as well.

If you truly like the experience of this design, you have more waiting for you. Just not on Matrix Games.
