Other option is no HRs

Its your game, and this is just my .02, but IMHO this just simply leads to the 'Battle of India' as Japan rolls right through China from Manchukuo. Then its on to India through Burma. Unless that's the kind of game you want.

BTW this should lead to a Japanese win through VP at the end of '43.

Not really. If the Japanese invade in force from Manchukuo, the the Chinese roll into India via Burma. It will be hard to take India with 30,000+ Chinese AV backed by Indian and British INF and ART.

I of course prefer to play with HRs but some people have different mindset.

Who said anything about taking India. Japan will simply win by points with what she may do without an HR.

Some do, some don't. I will prefer HR's too, if I ever free enough time to do a PBEM game.

Final word, you are wrong about this. I have done it and still won the game. There are not enough base points available in China to give Japan an AV.

Indeed he is wrong. In worst case scenario all the WC, South Pacific, Gulf of Aden/Arabian Sea bases(x10-20(Caledonia x50) VPs) can be build up.
I might be wrong, but if two competent players have a game, there is no way Japan can win on victory points. WitP is about the journey, not victory screen.

But the really important question Bobo, did you get an opponent?

Hi Guys,

I'm a play tester for a board war-game company (since 2015) and still do that to this day. It's The Gamers (part of Multi-Man Publishing) if anyone is interested. I'm doing quite a bit of play testing right now. I also retired at the beginning of the year but am traveling quite a bit with my wife. I seem to be busier now than when I was working. I really want to start a new game but need a day or two to commit. So, I will make a decision this week.

House rules I like:

Pay PPs to allow units to move across a national border. That seems obvious to me to prevent some of the things you guys were discussing above. The only exception I recall is allowing the Thai units to move 4 hexes across their borders.

I'm not for any restrictions on max height for planes. The plane types account for that pretty nicely.

4E bombing below 10k? Even though the morale drops pretty quickly, it can be rather devastating. I'd rather not allow that.

Off the top of my head, I can't think of anything else. It's been awhile though....

Edit: Sorry for the delay, but I was on the road all day yesterday.

I would add the classic T1 HRs

- No CV hunting
- Allies can't issue any orders with exception of TFs already at sea and the Chinese
- And maybe some limits how far the magic invasion TFs can teleport(?)

I seem to be busier now than when I was working.

Tell me about it. Four years since I retired and I still can't find time for a PBEM game.

Oh well, gotta go. Baseball game tonight, local minor league team. Three generations attending, My son, grandson (his first game), and myself.[;)]

No matter what you do, have fun.

I just heard from an old opponent and we are going to start up another game. I apologize for not starting a game with you but he's an old friend and we've wanted to face off for a long time. The one time we did start wasn't the right time so we're giving it another try.

Tigercub, I will yield to you. Please give him a great Japanese try!

Also, I hope you guys decide to do AARs. I'd love to follow.
