Random Weather

Post by MarkShot »

I find no documentation that historical weather was removed from the game, but apparently was?

Thanks.

PS: it is in the original manual.

No options, but the scenario editor has a set weather option.

It that how you would set historic weather for a scenario or campaign?

Thanks.

There is no "historical" weather in WitE2. The game never had that or a weather option of any kind, although there are parts in the editor that can be adjusted. WitE1 had a Non-Random weather option (fixed weather or random weather), but those systems were very different than what is in WitW and WitE2 (only a few weather zones and all hexes in each zone had the same weather). The Set Weather function in the editor in WitW/WitE2 runs through a simulated game to create a starting weather for the start date you have set for the scenario. Every time through you get a different starting set of weather fronts, and different ground conditions on the map in each hex based on how that simulated game went.
All understanding comes after the fact.

Joel,

Understood.

Maybe you should note this in the living manual, since the screen shot in the actual manual shows this and the text documents it.

The living manual says nothing about it not being included or removed.

There is nothing in the manual about historical weather so not really sure what you are seeing. Every comment in chapter 8 talks about the weather system using fronts, with these related to climate zones and the concept of the dominating weather condition. I can find sentences about it being dynamic all over the place.

The dominating weather table is on p.141 as it has some value for overall player planning (ie if nothing else happens, you can roughly expect this) but that is not historical weather and its never described as such. Just one of the building blocks to the system

Game options.

I'm sorry but you are clearly seeing something that I am missing. Now that is quite likely but it would be helpful to actually understand what you are basing this interpretation on so we can, indeed, amend the living manual if needed.

The weather system currently in the game was introduced in WiTW as Joel says and then adapted for WiTE2, the game has never been designed with the equivalent of predictable fixed weather that was one of the options in #1.

I am very sorry for having wasted your time. I must have clicked and been on the options for the WITE game.

My apologies.
