Units turning on radar when ordered not too.

So title says it all really I am playing Indian Fury 1 Persian Pounce and the Italian Frigate ITS Aliseo will turn on its radar when orders not too I’ve also ordered it to not fire in self defence and to not ignore emcon also changed the ROE for apside to do not use against guided weapons and do not fire at all regardless of how close it is. Still the frigate turns it’s radar back on and starts firing in self defence which would be fine if there wasn’t something like 10 KH17 ARMs heading for it.

This is an interesting edge case.

If we set it so that ships always obey EMCON, even when considering themselves under attack, you can bet we'll have a flood of "my brain-dead ships are not firing up their radars to defend themselves!" bug reports. (This has, in fact, happened in the past, which is why now ships will do the logical thing and light everything up when they think they're being shot at).

So damned if we do, damned if we don't? Unless you can think of a Solomon solution that I'm missing.

Yeah I understand that, its just I thought I’d saved the ship when I turned the radar off just to find it’s started radiating for all the KH17s to home in at it

I think the Easiest solution is to save scum or go into editor and delete the unit then add it after the attack not very realistic but I can pretend it’s just staying dark

Does the ship know that those are ARMs?
In many cases, strange behaviour seems to be caused by us knowing more than the unit in the game can be expected to, or at least, that rationalisation makes some things make much more sense to me.
If a ship can see missiles on the way launched by strike aircraft, it has to assume an antiship strike and that attempting to shoot them down is its best bet at maximising odds of survival.

A much easier solution if just playing in editor (I always recommend this - if you have some self control [;)]) is temporary disable|destroy all your broadcasting related sensors on the given ship (but don't change the % damaged) when you really want it silent and then restore them after YOU deem the threat gone (or you decide to engage) if you really want something to stay silent. PITA but effective, and better than adding\deleting units.
