Turn 6 (Real time update)

I see possible Armor or Mech/Moto in the area I circled in blue. Yes, Smolensk looks to only have an Airborne in it also. What else?

Turn 6 (Real time update)

Lots would attack up the open area along the dual track line I marked in Red would you not agree? That would create a half closed pocket since my Northern units aren't ready yet and I am kicking this off this turn instead of waiting another turn. Then would take a turn or two to clean it up. No, we want quick pockets that can't be broken. At least that is what I want.

What I see are a lot of Soviets defending little of value. He's badly out of position it would appear, but you cropped out what's up north.

Turn 6 (Real time Update)

My goal is more units for surrender and lock down other Soviets with ZOC so not easy to move. They can wiggle but not run.

Orange is where I want to go to cut off from North and South. 1st hex of each entry point is light woods.

Yellow is retreat locations for Soviets, I hope.

White is ZOC on Soviet units.

Hope to bag at least 5-8 Soviet Divisions and ZOC 7 of them.

I agree. I am just going to whittle him down a little then "hopefully" nothing he can do. I have a very small window though & may fail.

Your real time play style is awesome

Were this interdiction raids oder ground attacks? In the case of ground attacks, did you observe any mp reduction of your units?

Yeah, lost some but I am so close to the front now MP's don't matter. Once Soviet Divisions are within the grasp of the German Foot soldiers it is the beginning of the end. I had no unit below 11 MP's. Armor were in the 30's.

Turn 6 (Real time update)

Now remember I said I believe the Armor/Mech/Moto are here for a reason circled in blue. I am sure they are set up in reserve movement to defend(I would). As such that is a key component to attack with certain units. What are those units? To only attack with German Moto Units. Why? So you don't lose tanks! Plus German Moto Division eat Soviet Armor/Mech up for tank losses. So I will bring up my Moto units, 3 stack to attack from the South marked in Green. They aren't fully rested but time is of an essence. I authorize the attack. Hopefully draw their reserve movement so the North units don't have to face a reserve movement if that makes sense.

Turn 6 (Real Time update)

Had to get rid of the Surrounded Soviets from last turn. Bring up two German Inf Division and Deliberate attack. I always try and Deliberate attack surrounded units since the deviance is small on the ones that get away ;-)

I have not assigned Artillery to this Corps yet.

The game might well hinge on this choice no matter what you pocket. If you ignored these units and bypassed them, and successfully gotten to Rzhev, he'd be compelled to give up a big chunk of real estate. So you're choosing men over ground. It will be fun to see how that works out. I really think it could go either way.

Turn 6 (Real time update)

Smolensk has been taken. I deliberate attack to cause as much carnage as possible but the Airborne brigade routes away.

Ya, he may be perfectly fine. It is a race against time for sure but I am 100% after his men. Moscow is a nice 2nd prize if you will. But this isn't the only spot on the field of battle for sure to grab men. The North is looking pretty good again I bet :)

I feel Jubjub re-enforced the northern area pretty hard. More of a knee jerk reaction. Years of experience tell me this was the case.

Turn 6 (Real Time Update)

4 attack and Finally get a reserve activation. Sheesh about time. I wanted more Soviet Armor/Meck activation to destroy tanks :( But you can see the results in this slide on tank losses from 3 German Moto Divs. Of course these 3 division are pretty exhausted otherwise it would have been far worse for them if they weren't.

Yes, I was fishing for Soviet Armor/Mech Activation.

Turn 6 (Real Time Update)

I move up 2 regiments of Totenkopf. I have to be careful for what I wish for since I got a reserve activation. Luckily it was turned into a Scout result. Lost 343 men but got 39 Soviet tanks. :( My boys are tired but ask them to attack the Airborne Regiment again.

Turn 6

Attack from the North to finish off the pocket. I had to do other attacks in the north to make this happen.

Now I need to pause and give thought on some things. May revise my strat. Gotta think about it. Going to save the turn and come back later.
