GER Automatic rail repair in Italy not working?

Post by matchwood »

Playing as Ger in the 1943 scenario and rail lines are not being automatically repaired in Italy. There are construction units in HQ's in range but they are not being allocated to rail repair. Any suggestions??!!

I’ve observed the same thing. Even putting the repair units in a short range HQ and in a place where they should repair rails and they just don’t.

Even worse. I’ve observed the ZOC effects that should prevent hexes in southern Italy from flipping control (supposed to be ranged depending upon CV) doesn’t work as described in the rules. Consequence is that rail hexes flip control in Southern Italy and you can’t maintain a rail fed depot network so defense southeast of Naples will cost you thousands more trucks than men!

Southern Italy is set up to reflect the partisan effort. Once you've lost Taranto you get regularly damaged rails south of Napoli

Not how it is described in the manual.

18.1.2
Hexes with coordinates X>151 and Y>253 or hexes that are part of Corsica or Sardinia may change. German units in Italy or Corsica can prevent the switchover. All German units prevent a change in any hex that is within a number of hexes of the unit equal to 1+(unit CV/2). So a German unit with a CV of 9 would prevent a switchover in any hex within 5 hexes of the unit. Any hex that is not within range of a German unit has a 50 percent chance of switching to Allied control.

Unfortunately, the game isn't working as delineated in the manual.
My last game with Kent I confirmed the switchover prevention is bugged.
Unfortunately makes it difficult to defend beyond coordinates X>151 and Y>253 because you can't fix the rail lines.

I was going to try and plan for this, but I can't get another game off the ground. I'm afraid the crowd has moved on.
