Invastion fails

Post by phildove »

If you invade, spend a few turns supplying your unit(s) by sea but find that the invasion is just not going to succeed, is
there a way to get your units off the beach or do they just have to stay there and die?

Apologize if I am missing something.

Short answer: they die.

Long answer: they can die with honor.

1. Don't give up. Continue to perform beachhead supply with your ships. Ships on night mission if possible.

2. If air resupply is an option, use it.

2. Use port blockage to prevent your enemy to supply its own troops.

3. Use a COMINT on the targeted island to know if there are enemy ships in the area to counter your port blockade.

4. Add a speciality to your landing party to beef up their attack (heavy artillery, Infiltrator or elite for example) if this is not too late.

I sort of figured that was the case, and have done much of that.
Thank you for the very comprehensive response. Good by invasion army....

Hum, there should be a way to do it. Dunkirk, while not an invasion but an evacuation, took place in haste. The Dieppe Raid was designed to only last a short time. Gallipoli was an overall failure but most of the commonwealth troops got out. The Japanese evacuation by Destroyers, from Guadalcanal got 10,500 out.

Yes but in which state? You gave me an idea. Just imagine I have lost and my invasion fails.
But, I still have some ships around.

If I have still ships around, AND ONLY IF I have still ships around, why not allow the disband button?
I would say that you are leaving without your big guns but saving your men.

So, in this case, you are disbanding your unit just to retrieve manpower NOT the production.

Just an idea.

And add a percentage of chance that all the manpower can't be saved. This is an evacuation after all...
The dedicated popup could give this information.

Thanks
