Hurray
$trat€gy worst, gone from WWIIol
They should drop dead after what they did to WWIIol, releasing and Alpha like that.
Hope this publisher does a lot better, and with WWIIols current state, it can't go wrong really :D

Cool. And if Tactics says it's good, then it is! I can't think of a single SF title that ever came out that didn't need huge amounts of patching. Not to say they haven't published good games, just that usually the games they do publish need another year of development.

I still have the original CD so.... that makes for what? 8 hours of broadband patch downloads??
Don't download all of the patches, just download the Full Install. It's only 150mb? big. Just use your CD Key for it, and everything should work

i have been with wwiiol for over 2 years now. wwiiol is not for the quake fan,it involves more strategic thinking and alot of patience. wwiiol is constantly evolving, the latest patch brought the light machine gun along with transport ships and the m5 stuart for the british.

mass attacks, strategic bombing, and hair raising dogfights are the order of the day. attacks with 15+ tanks and 20-30+ infantry and support aircraft are common.

if you want quake, wwiiol is not for you.if you like a realtime war, wiiol is just for you. try the one week free trial.

Free Trial Soon

Post by gnasche »

CRS is going to have a free trial soon through www.historynet.com

It may happen today (very likely) or it may be next week. Keep an eye on the announcement forums for WWIIOL at:

http://discussions.playnet.com/viewforum.php?f=5

There will probably also be an announcement link on www.historynet.com

I am assuming Strategy First has done wargaming at least one favour, just can't think of one currently.

All I can seem to recall is titles released at times that even the most clued out person could percieve as give us your cash and maybe we will fix the game later.

I know of no title they have done, that was good the day it was released, and only got better, without being a patchy nightmare first.

I have heard a lot of comment on WW2 Online when it first came out.

Saw it day one, thought cool a game for me. My buddies were all FPS types or EQ fanatics. And there just didn't seem to be a wargamers online option till WW2 Online.

Then the comments started to roll in. I was afraid to even be seen looking at the box. After the first week of it being on sale, it sucked so much in the view of those that had bought it.

I know only this, seeing Strategy First on a game is an instant warning signal.
Much the way seeing Matrix games is today what seeing Avalon Hill on a game was to me years ago.
I LIKE that my life bothers them,
Why should I be the only one bothered by it eh.

Thats great!
I'm a WW2OL player myself, even if I haven't been able to play much lately, still havent tried the latest patch because of that. But I love the game, being in an organised squad is the best. Nothing like planning an offensive on our chat server and running an organised infantry assault on a town.

Just saw that a free 30 days of WW2OL is included in the game Highway to the Reich?
Sweet thing. And if anybody joins up WW2OL and wanna join a squad on the axis side, www.the-iron-wolves.com . Very newbie friendly. :)
And if you wanna play Allies, i'll throw my voice to say that Ready's squad, the 3rd Canadian Division is a nice allied squad. We did a squad exchange with them once, where for a day we played allied with them, and the next they played Axis with us, nice bunch.

Greetings, fellow wargamers.

I am wheelz.

Here it is in a nutshell:

WWIIO absolutely blew lung butter when it was released. I personally dumped the game for the next 2 months after release. I was talked into trying it again after a patch, and then I had one of.... those moments when the scale of the game gripped me. For me, it was flying over 250 mph for about 20 minutes, seeing something out of the corner of my eye on the ground, starting a strafing run and, at the last possible second, seeing men scattering like tiny ants. I realized, "those are real players, like me!"

That was a long time ago. I still play the game every single day, after 2 and a half years. Honestly, it's ruined me for any other game.

As one of the loudest voices in our ranks, I offer a royal <s> /O! I assure you, we are happy to be here.

I have been a wargamer since 1977....Avalon Hill and "Starship Troopers" from Hienlins new book '75 or so. I played D+D with the Orange print softcover manual set c.1982 I think. I played "Dunzen" on my Zenith Z-80 c.1983. I have played everthing I could get my hands on ever since. Currently I play a board game from Mayflower games called "Settlers of Katan" german I think.
Of all the games I have enjoyed over two decades...."WWIIOnline" is the best. I have spent more time in that game than all others combined I am sure. The completely fluid environment...the ability to lead an entire squad of handpicked members in an operation with no bounds except your own abilities is AMAZING!!!! This game places you in an environment with NO BOUNDARIES!!!!!!!! you can do anything you have the patience to accomplish.
There is but one game to rule them all ..."WWIIOnline....Like nothing before...like nothing now...the ONE!!!!!

For those new to Matrix Games, and new from WWII Online, yep Matrix Games is a very wargamer friendly bunch.

The only people saying anything negative about Matrix Games, are the sort that only come here for Art of Wargaming. And frankly, the threads in there are from a different world.

Hmm explosion of threads in just a few hours equals a special forum I think David.

I would think the WWII Online crowd will love the idea after it has become common knowledge they have a home here.

We're accustomed to the lightning-fast forums, Les. :)

If David makes a special one for us, I do hope you'll come look in there, too. That's the reason I'm not just posting on the Playskool forums. (that's our little home)

All our guys are just happy to have found kindred spirits.

*Comes in, takes off jack boots, props his feet on Matrix's coffee table.*

So, the WWIIonline crowd is welcome here? I don't think you realize what you are saying...

We can be a rowdy bunch, just ask NukeZone :)
