Overall
• Strategic points: 8,288
• B29's reporting ready: 143
• +/- VP today: +77
• Enemy carriers and battleships 5 hexes SSW of Cam Ranh Bay, heading west. Search reports about 40 carriers but only 94 fighters, 170 bombers, and 20 auxiliary types.
• Our USN fleet carriers need to have a squadron of at least 18 aircraft offloaded by 9 days from now to make room for arriving Corsair squadrons. We will reshuffle squadrons just after. Operations near Iwo-jima should not be affected, operations in the Java Sea maybe so but I anticipate only minor interruptions.
West Coast USA, Alaska, Hawaii
Pacific
• Merging some B-29 squadrons in the Marianas to fill out the squadrons while keeping the squadron count down. Will probably keep doing this as more groups are available than bombers to fill out the groups.
New Zealand, Australia, New Caledonia, New Hebrides, Solomons, Papua New Guinea, New Britain
DEI, Dutch New Guinea, Borneo, Malaya
• Got a bunch!

• The assault at Tourane will continue tomorrow to clean out resistance.

• The march on Singora itself now commences.
• We will bring more forces into Saigon before beginning to reduce fortifications.

000060 surrounded 1944-12-22 Haha-jima 110,75
Japanese Unit(s) surrounded at Haha-jima
• Lots of engineers are on Chichi-jima and the remaining combat forces will be lifted off over the next few days.
• The fighter strip on Haha-jima is clear, but the base facilities and the port are unrecognizable.
• It is possible that Torishima is undefended. It's a 0(0) 0(0) base, but if we could build it to operate P-47's that would increase our sweep strength. At the right time, a Torishima invasion might be a good operation to bait and destroy Imperial anti-shipping strikes prior to invading the main Home Islands themselves.
• We have six P-51D squadrons on Iwo-jima, five of which are at full strength (although making ready aircraft). One is both on a delay and is awaiting more to flow into the pool (7 needed). We have two P-51D squadrons on Chichi-jima.
• No date is set for Daito Shoto landings, but certainly January. Nago and Naha will come as soon after that as I can manage. At sea replenishment via AE auxiliaries should be a great help.
• Items being repaired as seen by recon of Home Island production facilities:
J7W1 Shinden
Mitsubishi Ha-43
Mitsubishi Ha-32
Toka
• I am adding the Toka to my watch list/opportunity target list. 91 factories (that I can see) working on Toka, and 127 working on J7W1 Shinden.
Complete combat report attached.
