Aircraft Production and Availability Date

Post by 56ajax »

Have just noticed that an aircraft type cannot be assigned to an AOG until 1 month after production starts.

For example Yak7a and P-40E start production Jan 1942 but cannot be changed to an existing AOG until Feb 1942 (they are not populated in the change list). Also Aircraft change Auto will not commence until 1 month after production commences, in this case Feb 1942.

Is this WAD?

Cheers

28.4.2. New Aircraft types
A new plane model cannot be used to re-equip existing air
units for the first month after it enters production.

What happens to the MIG-3 factories during winter 41-42? I guess they are retooling for another model? They are no longer in the factory navigation panel, and I missed when they disapperad. Sorry for butting in.

From what I see, they don't upgrade so just disappear.

I think they get repurposed as Il-2. The Mig-3 factories that start in Moscow get moved to Kuybyshev on T16, looking at a later save, all the aircraft factories there are producing Il-2 frames.

Good to know. I don't think you can ever have to many IL2s [:)]

Who needs fighters when the Luftwaffe inflicts 7:1 losses to you? Just build flying tanks instead... [;)]

Yes, the MiG-3 facs switch to Il-2 production. Even in WitE1 they won't simply disappear anymore but switch to Il-2 as well.

I raised this question earlier, especially in regards to 1 month gap in Luftwaffe receiving fighter reinforcements when they switch from Bf 109F-2 to F-4.

This 1 month gap, coupled with the ahistorical 109F-2, 109F-4 production schedule ends up causing excessive degradation of Luftwaffe formations during a critical phase of Barbarossa.

First of all, Germany did not suddenly stop all F-2 production to switch over to F-4s. There was actually an overlap of 2 - 3 months.

Additionally, the 1st F-4s were produced around June 1941, before Barbarossa began. Whatever artificial 1 month delay on upgrading Luftwaffe formations the game imposes would have already mostly expired.

Is it possible to get the AI to abide by 28.4.2 - it seems to ignore this rule.
