GUI Centring Map on Hex

Post by potski »

When you use the Go to Hex control (either a numbered hex or named hex) it will normally centre the map on that hex in the centre of the screen/window. But when a unit is already selected (so that the unit panel is visible on the right) the hex is instead centred on the amount of visible map, so that the selected hex is off-centre of the screen/window. This is inconsistent.

You are going to a hex where the previously selected unit is probably not located. And all of the units on the map are hidden by the Go To command, presumably so that you view the terrain etc. of the hex better. To view the units in the hex you have moved to you need to hot key { t } to see them all on the map and then to click on the hex to bring the unit(s) up in the right panel. That makes some sense, but the continuing visibility of the previous selection of unit(s) in the right panel does not.

Therefore, the behaviour in all cases of using the Go To a hex command should be:
- Hide all units on the map
- Close any open unit panel on the right
- Centre the map (and therefore screen/window) on the hex
