Repeated failures - (151 Retrieve Game Packet)

We've had repeated failures with the error "(151 Retrieve Game Packet) Unexpected error reading game packet. You need to Exit Forum and reenter." We are still to get as far as combat in September 1939 and we've had more than a dozen of these errors. This one occurred when I clicked on UNDO for a Japanese naval move, but they can occur anywhere.

This is really making the game unworkable for us - too many restarts and we aren't really making any progress with the game. Any suggestions?

Again it sounds like an unstable internet connection. You may have to try playing by mail.

I can't see anywhere on the WiF start menu where you can create an email or PBEM game.

The rules also seem to explicitly rule out PBEM as well:

4.1.5. BY EMAIL (PBEM)
This mode of play is not included in the initial release and will be part of a future expansion.

Is the game can played by email, how do we do it ?

We play by email by starting a solo game, and sending a save by email when it is time for the other player to make their moves. Interactions during the impulse can be solved by some sort of internet communications. We use the (AAR) forum, or email, to do that.

We also use an online die roller to make everyone comfortable with the die rolls when the extremes are rolled. I had no issue with the internal roller when the other side rolled well. However, when I rolled well with it I felt a bit worried that the other side might wonder. So a online die roller feels like a good use to me.

Edit: In short. We created our own version of play by email.
