Question about depots

Post by oldMarinePanzer »

1. What is the best distance between depots when you either "build a new depot" or "establish a new depot"?
2. How many grids between each depot: 1, 2, 3 or more?
3. Which space would be the optimum in order to resupply all the way to the front line units?

The answer to each of those questions is: Who really knows? There are many ways to build your supply net - many right ways and a very few wrong ones. So the following are 'my way' answers:

1. I build at least one depot a turn per FBD/NKPS repair line. Sometimes I build more. Experience has taught me that the more depots you build the easier it is on your truck pool. ALWAYS place a depot in a railyard level 2+.

2. I tend to set every depot that supplies front line units and air bases to priority 4. Then I do about three or four depots back at priority 3. Every depot between that and my well established supply net (Germany/Hungary/Rumania for the Axis, east of the Volga for early war Soviets) would be priority 2.

3. Supply movement uses rail capacity from level 2 railyards within 30 hexes so always have depots within 30 hexes of the NSSs and within 30 hexes of those, etc.
