It's on Steam and early access looks like it is, or might soon, be available.

Looked really interesting until the F2P part.
It is rare to find a good F2P game that isn’t handicapped because of the business model.

…still have to keep an open mind and give the developer a fair chance to proof themselves.

Yes, I feel slightly apprehensive too. However, I believe the devs have already said that there will be DLC's and cosmetics for troops, but nothing 'pay to win'. We shall have to wait and see, but I find the subject matter irresistible. For those that don't, the first DLC will be the US Civil War.

Yes, have been following this Franco - Prussian site: https://www.youtube.com/c/realtimehistory/videos since someone (Neilster) posted a thread about it earlier here in this forum. Thanks for the heads-up with today's thread.[;)]

Crimean War resulted most severe capitulation of Ottoman Empire. In the video mentioned no dice rolls will be used and it will be WEGO turns after moving each army. Looking forward to it.

Way back in the 70s I wrote a paper on the Franco-Prussian War for a graduate level history class, mainly because I knew nothing about that war. I took a look at the game and don't like the idea of micro-transactions for cosmetic additions. I stay clear of any game with in-game purchases. I can deal with cheap DLCs for cosmetic additions.

"As muskets become rifles and infantry are replaced by Gatling guns, you must adapt to a rapidly changing battlefield. This is a new age, not of courage and chivalry, but of Blood and Iron."
What? Who wrote that stuff?

It certainly has some interesting concepts. Let's hope they are well executed.

Evidently the world is as flat as a billiard table. Unless they can get a handle on terrain it's much ado about nothing.
