My reaction, I think its cool, his role inspired him to do it for real. Good luck Captain may you not meet any Romulans.

At his age, he could probably use some Borg re-engineering to help with the COPD...

But maybe that is the reason to choose him as a "space tourist". Every concept requires a "proof of concept" trial to see if the idea will pan out or what tweaks are needed. Putting a guy who already has breathing issues in space should test whatever breathing accommodations they have in mind for when the general populace can travel into space.

Seems a bit confrontational, don't you think?

I used such a machine for breathing for many years, but it was recalled in June.

If Captain Kirk can get a ride into space, then I am pleased that he is able to do so despite the negativity of the naysayers.

Sure, why not. Shatner gotta be 85 or more. Loved him Twilight Zone orignals.

I'd prefer him to do some more Celebrity Roasts on the comedy channel. Captain is old, strap on and go, man has guts on this.

According to IMDb, William Shatner was born on 22 March 1931 which would make him 90 years old. At that age I believe he should be doing everything he wants to do while he still has the good health and an opportunity to do so.

This reminds me of Star Trek's opening lyrics: "To boldly go where no man has gone before."

Really hoping he'll be wearing at least part of a Star Trek uniform or insignia.

His Twitter feed doesn't show that he is 90 at all. What an amazing person [&o]

Now that's a funny comment! Love it.

Add a Priceline.com hat from his advertising days.
Then have him screaming at the Gremlin on the wing from Twilight Zone episode.

90. He will be the oldest man to go to space.

Grab Zulu or Sulu or whatever that Oriental dude's name was on Star Trek. Think he's still kicking and receiving. Can be the first Tweety Bird in Space.

How long before a famous and wealthy individual
is transformed into elemental carbon when their Space Safari
rocket explodes and sends them all hurtling Earthward
in a serendipitous showering of schadenfreude?
