Supply anomaly for island installations + port?

Post by Elessar2 »

Behold the following supply map:

Image

Note the town near Guadalcanal to the top of the screenshot: port is supply 5, gives supply 5 to its town.

But then look at Espiritu Santo, and the island right below it, right above the New Hebrides tag. Ports are 5--but the towns are only 3. As a result I cannot upgrade the garrisons on them. The ports were not being interdicted by any ships note.

You are right, and I think the best solution will be to make them Secondary Supply Centers, so that they can reach a supply value of 5.

But why are some 5's, and some 3's? Making two backwater outposts secondary sources would likely be overkill and would make taking them more difficult. I just checked if I put those little roads leading to the ports, and I did (I know from playtesting that if absent they will reduce supply to the land installations, and I'll also note they are all Settlements, and all controlled by the UK, which is 100% Mobilization and at war with Japan).

Hi Elessar2,

Just to clarify, the ports would not increase the supply to towns, rather just to any land units that could draw supply from the port if it was greater than the town itself.

In order to understand this better, could you provide me with a copy of the campaign so I might see this better on my end, e.g. to see exactly what might be going on here with the supply values of the resources and the supply overlay map.

Send to support@furysoftware.com

Thanks,
Hubert

A saved turn of this exact situation would help as well.

Meant to add in the email: the following islands only get 3 supply (as shown by the S key): Johnston Island, Espiritu Santo, Mangara (Cook Islands), and Luganyi and Efate in the New Hebrides,

You did, but my email server then promptly died. I see the issue tho now: if all I have are some small islands INSIDE the port's hex, no problemo. If however I have a tiny bit of a land hexside on ANOTHER side other than where the town is, the engine "thinks" that the town "should" be over there, and not where it actually is, wants to only supply in that direction, and oops.

I was worried when I first read your email that I would have to redo like 50-100+ port hexes, but it should only be like half a dozen or so...
