Air Superiority Air Target Priorities

Post by DeletedUser1769703214 »

I would like to see Air Superiority Air Target priorities. For instance having different type of priorities based on Naval, Recon, Air-2-Air, Level bomber, tac bombing. With the saturation of air I feel the necessity to differentiate priority to intercept what you feel is necessary for current operations instead of blanketing it to everything. Otherwise Air Superiority could get eaten up on superfluous interceptions front loaded by the attacker but the good stuff comes later after all the air miles are eaten up. Or am I missing something? How do you feel?

I believe the problem is that nor player nor AI can know how many 'missions' the enemy is to perform and of which type earlier.

Barring some obvious situations (ie. AS over Odessa and sea hexes around to prevent / enforce naval interdiction) in general it is far fetched to predict what the enemy will do (Some players may have patterns but they can change that too).
There is the risk of 'prioritizing' intercepting mission A, but then all mission B goes through...

The system itself has the disparity of 'Day Based' mission for some air stuff, and then ... Ground Support and Air Supply are out of the 'day routines'.

From my perspective there is a base flaw in the system design that gets the whole building above wonky - as just underlined above a duality of system when a single type of system would be arguably better. (The 7 days split is quite redundant to me. 'Across the week' type of mission was favorable and kept in line with the others).

AlbertN has a valid observation.

In addition, I realize it will get fewer views but should this topic be in the Feature Suggest area?

I post here for input. If there is enough I will make a post there with a link from this thread. If there is not enough enthusiasm for this then I won't put a suggestion in. I figured best to get other peoples ideas and chat on them here first.

HYLA,
I thought that was the reasoning and understand completely. I believe I understand the concept. You desire the freedom of interceptors to prioritize focusing on first bombers or escorts then bombers or perhaps dominate an airspace correct? I like the idea just not sure how the developers could implement it.

I could see value here. Not sure what to add but your suggestion seems logical.

It's sound nice but, logically, such feature wouldn't fit with the purpose of Air Superiority which should be considered an offensive mission and not some kind of way to enhance Interception effectiveness.

In fact, what you are asking for should be the possibility to influence auto-intercept with some options we could use (when to commit our fighters, how many, how far, against what, etc.).

But Air Superiority mission, like we have, was mostly designed for the Air War in the West as neither the Soviet nor the German really used this concept in the East.
