Enhanced Player Controlled Theatre Boxes request

Post by DeletedUser44 »

I have been playing with 'Enhanced Player Controlled Theatre Boxes' enabled.

I really enjoy this feature and find it adds another dimension to the campaign.

However, when I start a new game, I really dread having to go in and, one-by-one, clear the 'auto-transfer' setting on each unit and AOG, yet again.

I would really like if you could add another checkbox that would globally clear all of those.

I know you guys have a fairly full schedule, just add it to the list of player-requested, quality of life game improvements.

Thank you.

I LOVE having access to TB Box! Makes the game even more interesting for sure and I think this is a good ask further down the road after Air is done :)

Same here! I tried my first 1941 GC and I recalled the 15. Panzer-Division from Africa, while sending down there 3 ID from the West. Good Lord, the feeling of messing around with my divisions between TBs gives me goosebumps! [:D]

I agree. It would seem to me that a smart fellow with time on his hands could use the editor to make the theater box transfers disappear and create a new optional GC 41. I do not think this is an impossible task.

There is a one-button way to clear the entire list of departures and transfers of troops. But there is no sorting way to keep the required items.

Where is this 'button' ? I must have missed it.

Does it apply to AOGs too?

That button works in the editor only. It still requires you to find each unit. A time consuming process. Sauron_II is requesting a button to remove all unit transfers at once. It sounds like a great idea but I believe it will hidden and dramatic consequences.

There was just a proposal to create a script without transferring troops between theaters. If this button worked in the editor, it would be very easy! But she doesn't work there!

It was good idea, if the button worked.

Problem with editing the scenario data is that the scenario data is virtually changing on every patch.

I have edited scenario data before, mostly to clean up typos or re-order TOE elements. But as soon as a new patch comes out, I have to either re-merge my changes (not an easy task) or abandon them.

Also, I do not know if you can play against a human opponent unless they have the same scenario data modifications. But thank you anyways.

This modified scenario must be used by the player creating the game. The second player may not have this scenario.

Create a new/modified scenario by loading the 1941 campaign scenario in the editor then renaming it. Make whatever changes you want then save this renamed scenario. The data in this will not change with each new patch. If you wish to play against another person with this new scenario then you would have to email it to them and they would have to drop it in the Scen folder located in the Dat folder where the game is installed.

Before doing any of this it would be a good idea to make a copy of the Scen folder renamed to something like "Scen Back Up Copy" and paste it anywhere on your computer. You can even paste it into the WITE 2 installation folder. This way if you make a mistake forgetting to rename any of the scenarios you edit you can always copy back the original scenarios.

I am actually working on a 1941 Campaign scenario that does away with all of the theatre boxes and places everything in the Axis Reserve. Unfortunately I haven't had much time recently to work on it and am waiting for the patch which fixes issues with the editor such as being able to lock generic data and other things.

Locking generic data is the key. It is painful to change generic data and create the scenario you desire with the unit transfers the way you wish only to have the next patch eliminate most of it. IslandInland I am looking forward to your 'What If' scenario.

Agreed. The ability to lock generic data will make the editor a truly powerful tool.

I have been working on my scenario today. It is actually more complex than it might at first appear. All units (ground and air) have to be set to arrive in the Axis Reserves and any withdrawals must be cancelled. I'm also going to have do something about supply as there almost certainly won't be enough to allow all these new divisions to be operational at the same time.

I intend to make two versions of the scenario. One with no theatre boxes at all and one which posits no Western Allies. The latter would retain the Balkans, Norway and Finland TBs.

IslandInland interesting concept. I look forward to examining the final product. I am a sucker for "what if's".

Me too. The editor allows us to test things like that and I love trying out those different options that didn't occur historically.
