Q about setting AI to hard?

Post by PeckingFury »

Decided to make the IJN AI hard, with 180% reinforcements on. Christ, I can not seem to get a handle on things, Japanese are sinking ungodly amounts of shipping and bitch slapping me in the sky all over the place. My question is what advantage does the AI have with the hard setting enabled? <question may be obvious to me with all my smoldering tf's, but ****>

B.T.W, did I say this was me against the AI, its really a person I know named uh joe something

The manual doesn't tell what really happens, but I tried it a few times as Japan against the Allied AI on hard. Whoa, I got the same treatment as you describe. The AI sailed the starting CVs at me and creamed me. I could not hit them since most of my escorts and bombers went up in flames. At the same time, my CAP and AA did nothing. I quit trying than and started PBEM instead.

Well glad to hear its not just the way "Joe" is playing ;) , Had a couple of PBEM games going on, unfortunately I had to abandon them because I kept leaving for navy bases spread all over to complete the NMCI projects at their server farms. Got plenty of time now..nudge..nudge..wink...wink ;)

Hi all,

The AI is always "smart" as it is (i.e. it's strategic/tactical
"thinking" is always the same).

What does change is the how odds are calculated in combat.

With "hard" setting the AI has advantage over human player
and odds are biased (i.e. in other words AI would have
easier time shooting your planes down and hitting your
ships while you would have opposite).

AI = Hard, A6M's shoot down P-38's most of the time, eats lesser planes

AI = Impossible, 1 A6M2 shoots down entire squadrons of F6F/F1U (it's not pretty, don't ever try it!)

I think I was on the impossible mode. You're right Mr. Frag, it was not pretty.

Yeah those odds seem pretty bad to overcome, was begining to think that the float planes the japs had were some new form of a doomsday device. Tried AI on very hard was impossible as you stated to accomplish much, now I know why.
