T176 2/24/43 Budapest has been taken. That may trigger a surrender of Hungary. If not, all the Hungarian units in the Budapest area will be liquidated as they would be out of supply.

T180 March 10, 1943 Here is the Berlin front. The center of Berlin is only 10 hexes away. However, between the main defensive line and Berlin, are many German units not visible. That explains the slow progress.

T180 March 10, 1943 Here is a view of the Budapest pocket. The center hex of Budapest has been taken yet Hungary fights on.
The scenario briefing needs to be corrected to indicate both Hungary and Rumania never surrender.

RE: FITE2 EARLY START
1) Are there any hexes along the western edge that feed in Axis reinforcements?
2) What happens if you occupy the hexes depicted above.
3) The defeat of the Axis National Allies isn't part of the victory conditions but it sure is fun to clear the map of all the
enemy units. Am I right?
4) Good show, both of you.

I do not know if units feed off of the western edge.
If the center hex of Berlin is take it should be a Red Army scenario victory. However, neither Hungary or Rumania have surrendered as set out in the scenario briefing. I want the troops in Hungary and Rumania to help with taking Berlin but they have to stay there to eliminate axis troops that reconstitute there.

Hi Tom
In the original test game between Willie and me, the junior axis partners surrender when their capitals were taken. Maybe something has been "broken" with this version. Having said that I did have some German units reconstruct in the bottom part of the map late in the game.

Thought for the day:
If you feel like doing some work, sit down and wait....... The feeling does go away.

Hi John
It will be interesting to see if the remaining German units surrender when Berlin is taken. It is good to know the version you and Willie tested did work properly. Thanks for the information.

T184 View from space. Every hex in front of Berlin is probably a fortress of German defenders.

T185 3/28/43 Here are the Soviet tank losses in the same attack. Note much fewer Soviet tank losses. That same Panzer unit was evaporated on the next round of combat in the same turn.

T185 3/28/43 Breakout on the western front. If the German units try to pull back here they will find it difficult to get many units back to Berlin. I suspect at the end there will be a "donut defense" around Berlin with the Red Army attacking from all directions.
