Did any off u played Garys "western front" that came just before wir?
(still have that game)
The game was in div and corps level the maps hade a bigger scale whit france and italy as fronts.

As wirIII was discused earlyer in a thread my dream is still that Gary wokes up
some day and says -hey lets combinate westen front whit wir!!
(but ofcourse whit wf in same scale)

I tried out WF last summer, but I didn't like it so much. It seems very complex, but in a different way than WiR. WiR is playable even for total beginners, although they have no chance to win anything. But they can play. I found WF much more complicated and had many problems with it, although I was already playing WiR for some time.
There were also some other things... p.e. the fact, that units in mountains are practically unbeatable.

I prefer to play WiR, but have a copy of WF still somewhere on the other end of the hard disk ;) Maybe I'll have an other look on this in some years :)

for anyone interested

http://www.the-underdogs.org/game.php?id=1256

I played with it for 5 min before WiR, having bridges to bomb is neat, i guess, but you can't change factories and i don't think you can use a mouse. some bug killing and a new coat of paint (up to WiR 256 colors, i guess) and i bet it'd be fun!
