You might also consider making a very concentrated Sodium Chloride in water solution to put on the stumps. It can really dry out the stumps and the critters might even enjoy nibbling on it.

Sugar overload, I made a triple batch of fudge which used 2 cups of chocolate milk, 6 cups of sugar, 1 cup of baking cocoa powder, among other things.

A batch of brownies.

Then I made a second batch of haystacks, this is about half a batch:
