Trucks and Prioritization

Post by Zemke »

In my Pvp game, I am having a problem with trucks getting assigned to Pz Divisions or PzG divisions.

There should be a way to prioritize trucks and other equipment because the refit and reserve box just does not really seem to do that very well. I have tried turning off all refits at the front to get more equipment assigned to units in the Reserve Box, but that does not seem to yield the kind of results you would expect.

I do not know of any direct way to customize where trucks go.

I believe we are all currently at the mercy of WiTE2's logistics AI.

Does 'Max TOE' impact truck reinforcements?

Did you try to relocate your units on depots with freight? Maybe this works!

Just let them refit on a super depot for a turn or two. Make sure you have enough in pool as I never really had any issue with getting trucks to Pz divisions, it just takes a bit of time.

I have done all the above. Sitting on Depots, Super Depots, NSS, Reserve Box all on refit, the year is Sep 1943 BTW. Don't get me wrong, they are getting trucks, but it is painfully slow. Two Pz Div has been sitting in Berlin for 3 turns. They were from 1-200 trucks to 1500 trucks, and they need 2700ish to be full. I don't need them full, but I do need them to be somewhat mobile. A Pz Div that is full strength in 1943 with no trucks has a movement of 6. So yeah, pretty useless. Then I have other units with excess trucks. I have even tried disbanding as many depots as I think I can afford to, hoping those trucks make it into these Pz Divisions. So yeah, I have 2PzD in Berlin, one in Vienna, several on Super Depots, and many others on level 4 Depots. The PzD at the front I am not so concerned about. It is the ones I just put on the map that seem to not have enough trucks.

Now I have an AI game as Germans into May 1944, no problem there with trucks. In the AI game, a lot more Russians have been eliminated, and I am on the Kursk-Orel-Stalino line. So my logistics lines are not as long as in my PvP game. I have killed a lot fewer Russians, but am much deeper into Russia, halfway between Voronezh and the Volga River, but slowly falling back. No, I did not take Moscow or Leningrad.

Try adjusting TOE and priority.

I keep all motorized units at 50% TOE as Germany until I want to refit one. I'm still 10,000 trucks short in late 1942, but I don't really have problems with them being mobile.

I can see how that would be a good management technique. My problem was PzD that had come from Italy or the Western front that were pretty much full strength but very low on trucks. I was trying to get them trucks ASAP so they would be helpful in the East. When I transferred them to the map, I did not notice the truck numbers, just the percent of essential equipment, like tanks. So a lot of the problem was me, not the game. But I do wish I could control with more specificity what units got what equipment.

In my one surviving PvP game, we at Jan 1944. I am short trucks, but not terriblly so. Is it normal for units moved out of Reserve that showed they had trucks to no longer have trucks when they show up on the map? Every single unit was this way. If this is normal, how to I fix it.

It's intended. According to loki you need to sit your units for a turn or two on an NSS hex, with REFIT mode.

Someone said that checking a depot with plenty of trucks and parking on it in refit mode works.
