British units lost when France surrendered

Post by CrackingShow »

Found out today that if France surrenders and British soldiers are in mainland france, then you lose those units! Had a Corps in Bordeaux which vanished when the French gave up.

Also an army in Marseille which was also destroyed, but at least it counted as dead in high supply.

Is this WAD? Apologies if this has been asked before, I'm only on my second game.

Only in Vichy France and Bordeaux. They will fight on from the rest of France but often are out of supply initially.

It's a function of the 'Remove' (units) command in the Surrender1.txt file (I believe)... Or Surrender2.txt lol

Same thing happens with Poland. And if you attack Norway (without the event). Gotta clear all the enemy units off the board. France just happens to be a country where two countries both defend. The game doesn't distinguish when clearing within the boundaries that are surrendered (and given to the conquerer).

You can go in an change the value to ZERO. But then you'll have stray French forces and 1-2 raggedy Andy-looking Brit units. Who probably need to get the boot anyhow. Let's face it.
