Has anyone else noticed that instead of helping new players with AE that some veterans of the game would rather talk about search skills of new players? Why not help them learn how to search for their answers instead of berating them. I too get frustrated when the same question is asked over and over again. But I have a choice, answer or not....GP
I have no problem with new players asking questions if they have made enough effort to find info (like look in the manual) and have refined their question into something that can be answered. Questions that are very broad would require too much time for a forumite to answer and questions that are a matter of player preference (like playing with various settings) can only be answered by the player for themself.ORIGINAL: btd64

I expect players to try the various buttons and hypertext switches to find out what they do immediately and how it affects the game. The reason I counsel playing the small scenarios first is that many of these questions are answered by using the interface to play them. I cringe when a newcomer insists they can play the Grand Campaign off the bat and then peppers the forum with questions they could have answered for themselves by being humble enough to recognize how much they have to learn. The cliff is steep but you must pull yourself up primarily on your own efforts.
So, from that curmudgeonly viewpoint, I claim the right to object when I feel someone is expecting me to do their work for them! [:-][;)]
