Drop Tanks

I have been watching the Strategy Dojo YT channel on WITE2. In a couple of videos he mentions putting 'Drop Tanks' on Axis fighters. I cannot find any reference to this in the WITE2 Manual.

Is this possible in WITE2 or is the Strategy Dojo guy talking about something from WITE which is not available in WITE2?

IF it is possible, how would this be done?

The functionality is called Loadout - you can change bomb configuration or drop tanks. It is on the Aircraft details window and is accessed via the symbol >>

At the start of campaign they were available for the fighters. Seems like later on you can not use them any more.

drop tanks were heavily used in the Pacific, Western Europe and Africa/Med but very rarely to none at all in the East.

Drop tanks were taken out by a patch in WITE2 after a few months of release. Thus Strategy Dojo has them in his video and uses them but now Drop tanks have been nerfed out of the game. Thus not available any longer.

They are still available on the 1st turn and very useful for the initial attack.

Adding them as a load out is not very intuitive, you have find an airbase that has, say 109F2s, select the AC, click on “load out”, select drop tanks and select for all F2s in Axis air forces. Don’t know if there is an easier way to do it.
