Remember what Cliff said about it?

"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."
Put my faith in the people
And the people let me down.
So, I turned the other way,
And I carry on anyhow.

I agree that the Med would make a great theatre for a UV style game. The only problem I can forsee is that I think 95% of ships will be sunk by land based air from one side or the other, making it less of a naval game and more of air power...which wont be much fun for the Axis player.

Snigbert,
I liked your opinions more when they reflected a pro-UV Med attitude.

That being said, can we all agree that a Villanova University homecoming is dangerous?!

Beer + UV = bad bad things...

Imbibing in fermented hops decisions while making, cause results bad.. Hic-up! One night- ok, well maybe more then one- had a all night Scotch/UV thing going. I spent most of the next day first figuring out where my ships were, then the rest undoing what I did the night before. How Grant could do it I'll never know.

I look at the new build and I look at the number of ships required to keep Japan running then I look at the title of this thread and laugh...

The Reality:

Your computer room will be littered with scraps of paper with details containing convoy locations, tables with distances between each possible resource and destinations requiring them, chicken scratch notes of when your next convoy has to be enroute, what speed it needs to run at, how long it will take, and so on ... Expect to have to hire people to help you play!

There is no future! Accept it! We are all doomed to playing WitP until we die of old age!!! ImageImageImageImageImage

I am still strictly pro-UV Med, just expressing one of my concerns. :)

Polish WitP with the UV filter, and then..

someone help GG find a really workable land combat AI and style that can be plugged into the game if someone wants, again, at operational level - Battalion/Company sized would work, maybe regimental when we're talking about SEAC = Imphal, etc. The sheer numbers routine gets kind of draggy, to say the least.

A ground combat system that had a better "feel" would be nice..., but you must
remember that at the "scale" of this game, "replacements" for your infantry units
are basically just another form of "supply". Beans, Bread, Bullets, and "warm
Bodies for the Rifle Companies" are all things you need a steady supply of in
a combat situation. Probably the best you can hope for in the way of more
complexity for Ground Combat would be some additional "tactical choices" in the
matrix besides Bombardment/Defend/Attack/Shock Attack.

Perhaps adding a Recon or Probe "function" for ground combat? Get an idea of what your facing without getting embroiled in a large attack..
