Color-coding of spotted enemy CV TFs

Post by Yaab »

Is there a way to color-code spotted enemy CV/CVL/CVE TFs?

Right now all Jap TFs look exactly the same as they are colored red. A different color (i.e bright orange) would tell Allied player at a glance which enemy TFs contain CV/CVL/CVE ships. Unlike other TFs, CV TFs project their power in max speed+aircraft range formula, giving them almost a double range of surface combat TFs.

Right now I have to manually hover over each enemy TF to check for presence of CV/CVL/CVE. Annoying.

Isn't the different ship icon assigned to carrier TFs adequate?

It seems to be so for me.

Yes, you could do that.

The art file is mapiconsJ.bmp or …...A.bmp.

The icons have a ship silhouette and you could change the fill color.

For a single CV task force it would work but if there are multiple
CV task forces in the hex I think you are out of luck.

There were some other players who did alternate icons. Chemkid made a set.

Why do it? You will want to mouse over it anyway to at least
get an idea of it’s composition.

There is not anything in this game you have to do real fast in orders phase.
It is not like you have to get to it right away before it disappears.

All Japanese look alike?
All they would have to do to fool you is paint all their ships orange.

Wait, all ENEMY TF icons I see are either:

-ship (surface)
-submarine

Do the surface icons ever change to CV/Tanker/Transport/Amphibious etc.?

I think they don't. I'm wrong.

I must have lost my head before I had my coffee.
I don't think you can do it.

Sorry,

AFAIK, friendly TFs have different icons, but enemy TFs have only one icon.

Thanks. Never paid attention to the icons, and I am finding it tedious to sift through them all just to find Jap carriers.

It is a map by Chemkid. The name of the map is Yamato Damashii SunnyDay v1 stock.

BTW, it is not a mod. It is updated stock scen001. I just replaced the map tiles in the ART folder with Chemkid's creation.
