PDF Manual?
How can one get the pdf manual for World in Flames?
The Matrix Games 'contact support' page is dead so that is not an option.

RE: PDF Manual?
It's not there.[;)] BTW, I don't own the game but considering a purchase. I've read up on the ADG RAW7 but would like to peruse the MWiF PDF. I've concentrated on trying to comprehend the movement and combat mechanics, not so much on the political and economic facets. A little bit on all the optional rules. Have read several threads, a wealthy of info by rkr1958(thank you), as well as several others who have a solid grasp on this complex game. Setting up production efficiently appears to be somewhat of a chore and a drudge. I understand about the lack of AI and solitaire (or real time PBEM because of all of the back and forth decisions)is the way to go, at least for the foreseeable future--if not forever.
Is there any way I can get my mitts on the .pdf to review? As stated by the OP, the manual box is greyed out on the product page. Thanks.

The game faithfully recreates the board game with only minor deviations, the biggest probably being the map is the entire world on the board game's European hex scale. You can download the rules to the board game here

The downloads at the top of the ADG site are for the latest version of the game, called the Collectors Edition, and during development, those rules were known as version 8. MWiF was coded against the version 7 rules which you will find by scrolling almost to the bottom of that page.

You really can't go wrong with purchasing the game. There is a ton of content. Besides all the manuals you could want, the game comes with a built in interactive tutorial and like 20 tutorials that are in video format which are super helpful.

Have you watched the video tutorials? They, combined with the resources above, should give you a good feel for the game.

Thanks for the feedback guys. Yes, I did watch most of the tutorials. They were a good introduction.
Still good weather here in New England. I do most of my gaming in the winter months and like to prepare with a deep dive into the rules and available literature while lounging in a hammock with a cold one. If I buy the game now, then I will have the urge to play it now. Hence my ask for the manual. But if it not available until I purchase the game, that is the way it is. We will see what this winter’s challenge will be. MWiF is still in the running.

The game is occasionally radically reduced in price; so watch out for that. It's usually announced by someone here. A few of my friends picked it up when I told them about the discount.
I found that by actually playing the game, even without a complete knowledge of the rules, is a good way to learn as well. If something is mysterious, one can then research that part of the game.

Finally did purchase MWIF. The version is 3.0.1 This is the current official update from April 2019.
There have been many hot patches in the last 2.5 years, the latest is 4.3.1 released Nov. 2021. There is also a Beta 4.2.0 released in Sept. 2020. This Beta is the latest update in the download section.
From Steve’s last monthly report, there was mention of updating the current official update before December which is right around the corner. What is the community's recommendation on updating? What are others using? Thank you for your comments.

The last two updates, in my opinion, have game-breaking bugs. I would go with 3rd to last hotpatch... do not recall the number.

So true.
RE: PDF Manual?
In setting up a Guadacanal scenario, I can’t do a game save mid-way through the process. Is this typical? I have not set up the USA but am calling it quits for the day. I guess I will complete the setup tomorrow and see if a save game is successful. Can the game only process saves at certain points? I searched the forum and located a very old thread that suggested that saving a game incrementally through the set-up process was possible. When trying to save, it does not give an error message or any indication that something is not right. Even the header on the main form indicates the path and the name of the file. But when the directory is actually inspected, there is no file. I searched the entire computer for *.gam files but only located the tutorial ones.

RE: PDF Manual?
So I did locate the saved game files after all. They appear to being redirected to a “Virtual Store” directory under Users, see below
The directory path the program points to:
C:\Program Files (x86)\ Matrix Games\World in Flames\ Scenarios\Guadalcanal\Saved Games
which I believe is the standard location. The program thinks they do exist here but they don’t.
However, where they end up is:
C:\Users\Me\Local\AppData\Local\Virtual Store\ Program Files (x86)\ Matrix Games\World in Flames\ Scenarios\Guadalcanal\Saved Games.
PC running Win10. Have not updated the initial purchased version 3.0.1. Maybe a compatibility issue but there has to be others running MWIF on Win10. I’ll continue to fuss with this to make sure I have access to saved games before proceeding with the Guadalcanal scenario. If anyone has any insight, I would appreciate it. I’ll post in Tech Support also. Thanks.

I have a vague remind that you cannot while the scrap and deploy in the start of the scenario.
There are several moments along the game where you cannot save, in certain naval phases or in minor subphases and digressions, which is a big problem with some of the patches having so much unsolved bugs with the sea battles and interceptions.

I figured it out. It was a compatibility setting that needed to be checked in the shortcut properties. I posted it in Tech Support. Thanks for commenting.

RE: PDF Manual?
When I read this post, it seemed to me that posting the PDF directly to the OP was not an option. I am curious, can't we share the PDF? I don't know if it's legal or not to do it, but shouldn't Matrix provide the PDF for free from their website to everyone interested? I think the instructions manual is probably the best marketing the game can have.
On second thoughts, perhaps they are not allowed because of legal agreement with ADG? But ADG allows downloading the manual for free from their website...

No sweat. You can download manuals and most or all of the stuff for free in ADG website.

RE: PDF Manual?
If you look in the Manuals folder in the main game folder, you already have the PDF manual, totally hyper-linked.
