First John Tiller, and now Christopher. He was always there on the site helping people with issues regarding his games.

Thanks for posting this, but sorry to hear the sad news.

Very sad to hear this. Chris was very helpful and always looking out for his customers. Back when we were still working with dealers, he was the best.

RIP Christopher

Sad news indeed [:(] I can't say that he was a friend, but we had a direct connection. When RTW was published we exchanged a lot of private e-mails (with F.Wallin too) about how to expand the title into the carriers era. He was a great listener and he was always there when you had a problem. I could e-mail him a problem with a serial number and after six hours I had the answer. I often wondered if he slept at all.

I spent hours and hours playing with "Thunder at Sea", the campaign engine for Fighting Steel; then his personal masterpiece "Warship Combat: Navies at war"; then SAI (which I bought when The Wargamer was still a serious site: http://web.archive.org/web/201206230046 ... econd-look); and then RTW 1 & 2 - two games which covered a niche previously left empty by the wargame designers.

I hope that his legacy will go on. There is an expansion in the works for RTW 2. I hope that it will not be lost.

Greetings wodin,
This is sad news to hear. I owned several of the NWS pc naval games and relished the Fighting Steel project.
May he rest in peace.

I wrote to him in September for the Pacific War preorder, really a great customer support by him and the best price in the market.

He emailed me my serial for RTW 2 and we chatted by email for a bit. I disagreed with his decision not to release RTW 2 on Steam but he seemed passionate about what he did.

This is really sad news. I've ordered a number of games through NWS, notably the SAI series. He called me once and we had a lengthy and very pleasant chat. Really great with customer relations always responsive via email. He'll be missed!

Well, that does explain things.

It also shows something else very important, proper estate planning is also needed.

Yes, used to do alot of business with NWS, I'm not sure it was Chris for whomever was taking the phone order(s) sounded like a young guy with one or more kids crying, or making noise in the background, but not always the case (years about 2000 to 2010). Used to scope out the HPS Simulation's website then call NWS and get a quote $10 dollars per game cheaper than what HPS had to offer, a good deal, ended up buying dozens of games from NWS. Chris, or whomever it was at NWS was great to deal with and had really good customer care. Sorry to hear the latest news..[:(]

Some people have such unnatural fear of dying (which is different from the normal, healthy fear) that will do not anything related to the idea that they will die. I don't know if this was Chris Dean case, but, for example, you can't ask my father "Where do you want to go? With your father and brothers, or in mom's family chapel?" He consider such a basic question "morbid" and "unsavory". I guess that when time comes we will toss a coin.

I didnt know him well either. But I talked to him on the phone about 13 years ago to confirm an order, and ended up having a fun debate about the effectiveness of the Soviet BMP1 in actual combat conditions.

Very sorry to hear this. He was a good guy who personally attended to a problem years ago. The RTW games are excellent.

Rest In Peace.
