Odds that WITE2 runs on Linux?

Post by Metalist »

Hi everyone,

I wonder what are the odds that WITE2 runs on Linux via Steam proton. WITE1 and WITW runs fine, so do you think WITE2 would run as well? I am not a tech expert or anything but perhaps a comparison of these games' fundamental technical aspects could give an idea, what do you say?

I've been running WITE2 on Linux/Wine since release. The only issues I have seen are...

1. It crashes every time when you (a) load a new game or save, and (b) exit out of the scenario back to main menu, and (c) load (for the 2nd time) a new game or save. Judging from stack traces, etc., my guess is this is a WITE2 bug that is being somehow masked by Windows.

2. Sometimes the game does not always pick up on mouse actions, usually after running for quite a while. My guess here is it is a wine issue.

3. Wine development 6.22 has a regression error where the game will not load, so I rolled back to Wine development 6.20. I see Wine development 6.23 is now available, but have not yet tested that version.
