Ability to set TOE on Air Bases.

Post by sanch »

I want to move (as Axis in 1941) a fighter group closer to the front. I can do so (in a cumbersome manner, and sometimes with unexpected results) with the UI. But sometimes, the air base does not get the necessary amount of supply, fuel, support etc. But the air group moves in anyways.

What I would like to be able to do is ...

1. pick an air base to move the group to. Set its TOE to some value (30 or whatever is needed to support the group).

2. Then next turn, check to see if the air base has enough stuff to support the air group. If so, fine, move the air group in. But if not, wait another turn before moving the group.

And a simpler way of moving air groups would be much appreciated.

+1

I would like the ability to manually set my Air Base TOE percent as well.

I really dislike having to wait for assigned aircraft before TOE auto-adjustments are made.

It appears to me that waiting until AC are assigned poses the logistical problem of TOE elements / TOE supplies / AC supplies all competing on the same rail network at the same time.

This is actually how the game engine works if you schedule an airgroup to transfer rather than force an immediate transfer. The normal method to transfer is to select the AOG/air group then press down the ctrl key and maneuver the mouse to select the airfield(s) to transfer to. At this point the transfer is planned. The air engine will make sure the support and supply situation is proper in the target airfield before the transfer is executed. You have the option as the player to force an immediate transfer (which will then trigger an attempt to supply that airbase). If the engine is not able to setup sufficient supply and support you should get a message that states that and asks if you wish to do it anyways. Planned transfers may take a turn or two to execute as it may take that long to prepare the target airbase to receive the new air groups.
