Vector Drawing (like Pictionary)

Post by reaganadalynn »

A feature in my game is that players will be allowed to draw their own doodle characters. Up until now I have just been drawing them in Affinity Designer with the brush tool, but eventually I will need a built-in editor for the game. Not something huge and feature complete, just for drawing extremely basic black and white doodles with brush and eraser as the only tools.

I have found leads for rasterized drawing, but when drawing characters the game will be zoomed in, which would make them look super pixely and thus contrast from the game's art style (until converted into the actual textures to be used by the game). So I am looking at vector drawing as a possible solution.

Any resources I could use for such a thing? Best I could find was someone making a paint drawing by instantiating a dot texture every update (which is obviously terrible).

There are plenty of Inkscape tutorials on the web.
