Game can't find Campaign Files

Post by Future2063 »

I recently purchased and installed this game and when I first started the game there were no files found for a new game. I searched the tech support forum and found two threads with this issue and tried to follow the fixes to correct the issue but none have worked. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling the game. The campaign files are located in the My Documents folder at this path.

D:\Users\XXX\Documents\my games\WarPlan Pacific\Campaigns

I have the game installed at this path

D:\Games\Matrix Games\WarPlan Pacific

Every time I install the game and run the game I have to enter the admin password. Is there anything else I could try?

Are you installing in a virtual machine like in this thread?

No, I am not installing the game in a virtual machine. I also don't have any third party anti-virus software running, just Windows 10 Security. Since I purchased the original Warplan as a bundle, I tried installing that game and see if it would work and I can see the campaign files in that game. Both games are installed along side each other in the Matrix Games folder and both have folders in the my games folder in documents.

I was able to get the game working and figure out what I did wrong and reproduce the issue. I fixed the issue by uninstalling the game and deleting any other files related to the game on my computer and then reinstalling the game again.

How I caused the issue in the first place was when I was first installing the game I clicked on the browse button to change the location that I wanted the game installed to onto the drive I have my games installed. But when I did that the default path was erased and not knowing what the folder path should be, I created my own path which was G:\Games\WarPlan Pacific. So when I started the game the campaign files were missing. So I tried installing the game again with the correct path and also on the same drive as the my games folder is on to see if that would fix the issue. So the path was now D:\Games\Matrix Games\WarPlan Pacific but I still had the other broken install on my G drive. So even trying to uninstall the game after that not all the files were deleted by the uninstall process and so when I would reinstall the game I would still have the issue. So by uninstalling and making sure to delete the other install the any other files in the my games folder and then installing the game in the matrix folder, it did finally work.

Thank you for your help

How did you find all the files? Did you delete anything in the registry. I am back to where I was and I do not see any campaign files anymore. I think the only thing I did was the install Command Modern Operations. Uninstalled the game and reinstalled it in the default location again. Do not see any campaigns anymore.

I think I now understand the problem better and I think it is related to the virtual box. My real first go around with one. I think I know what the issue install I need is to be able to remove undeleted games files and information left behind.
