Mountain units in snow are they regarded as ski units?

Post by Cavalry Corp »

I finally found in the annex a note hidden at the bottom of the page about Mountain units in Mountains - ok
But what about the same in snow are they regarded as Ski units - I hope and assume they are??

Does the axis get any Ski SU like the Russians - just asking

In first campaign and Winter is Coming...

you might get a battalion SU, not sure but check in the reinforcement schedule.

Mtn units get no particular bonus, winter rules work out very differently to WiTE1.

As a hint .. get your logistics network as robust as possible and pull back where you are off the grid. That more than anything else will get you through Dec-Jan with as little pain as possible

Ok thanks for advising again its very different from WITE 1- quite understand its more about the logistics but I would have thought Mountain units would have had better equipment and clothing for winter?? Something a bit more than nothing over normal units?

Anyway thanks for advising very fast.

Yes, it is. First it´s called 1st Ski Brigade, but will then upgrade to a Division in mid '44 (I think).

I could've sworn that mountain divs got a movement bonus in heavy snow. I remember my mtn divs needing only 1 mp for admin movement while my normal infantry needed more.

I can confirm that mountain units, at least from an Axis side, suffer less penalties when moving in heavy snow
