How do you get this game to work?

I played the game to death for years in the 90s, but recently picked up this in a matrix sale. I can't get the game to run in a way that makes it payable on either the 4K screen on my laptop, or on the 4K screen on my monitor. I can't see any resolution options in the game on the screens I can see. I have been playing PC strategy games every single day since 1982, but can't see any options in this game which is being sold for serious money to run on serious modern technology. Can someone point to the settings I need to change to make the game playable? As it is I can play my original PacWar exe better in DOSBox.

WITP-AE didn't come out in the '90s, it came out around 2005, IIRC. You may have played its predecessor - WITP, but this game is a much more complicated thing. We have had players download the WITP game and then think they were playing WITP-AE and try to install the AE patch to update it. That won't work.

For now I assume you have downloaded both the base game and the latest official patch or the Beta Patch. After that it is a matter of configuring switches to make your hardware work with the game code. See the link actrade sent you.
