how come i cannot bomb naples?

My strat bomber in benghazi has range 24. naples is easily in range, yet it does not present as a target.

what gives?

oh yes. US and Italy have been going at it for a year. I was able to bomb other Italian cities, but not Naples.

so the range circle is that inaccurate? you can see it in the capture.

Yes. I don't remember seeing mistake for "base" range (the 39 tech). But for extra range due to tech advancements, they often have mistakes. The circle in the pic seems to show 27 range. The selected hex south-west in the pic is actually 24 range.

here's my theory:

i currently have 1943 tech for strat bombers. that formation is at 1942 tech. there is a range upgrade from 42 to 43. i believe the displayed range is for FULLY UPGRADED formations.

it's just a theory. but it would fit everything here.

Nevermind. UPgraded to 43 tech this turn, +4 range. still can't hit Naples.

I just checked. Strategic bombers go to 24 range with 42 tech and stay there until 45 tech when they go to 28 range.

you are right. its range still shows 24.

that's weird, because on the upgrade table it shows a +4 increase in range when going from 42-43

They are not cumulative. Each tech year show the total of "bonuses" compared to the plain 39 tech. So for example, if one sees 0 / 1 / 2 / 3. This means +1 on the unit for year 2, then goes up to +2 instead on year 3 and finally +3 on the unit on year 4 (and not +6).
