Newby, Missions and Reference Points

Post by adarbrauner »

Hello to all,

after having played Harpoon 28 years ago, at the beginning of this week I purchased CMANO, and having a good run on it.

My major issue until now rely on the coordination between a mission and referebce points.

I'm getting the mission editor working, but I still can't assign a unit already in flight a mission to follow, since I would get a number of refence points and a path, whose starting point is at the airfiels, to which the group would fly back to start its mission path, while this starting point can't be edited.

secondly, I wonder whtehr a "reference point" that I/you set, could serve as a waypoint. I can't find any command in this sense in the interface, nor any reference in the manual.

Thank you in advance for the xplanations....

Hey there,

eventually on CMO too, I'm having a blast!

What I do in such situation is simply to click on the mission's WP and delete it/them.

Don't fully understand your first question. I think the only mission where a flight path originates at the actual base is a Strike mission and assigning an in-flight AC to a Strike mission should generate its own flight path.

Most other missions will send the AC to the first RP but that is normally not at a base.

For Waypoints, use a Support mission with the first RP as the first WP and then as many WP as you want as long as they do not cross - crossing will result in an error.

Only 28 years ago with Harpoon - a late starter then [;)] [:D]

Yes. Sorry, force of habits. The Flightplan's waypoints can be moved, but the first and the two last ones (take-off, landing Marshall and landing).
To these, add the Hold (Start) and Hold (End) waypoints, and you then have the list of the waypoints that cannot be deleted.

In the quick test I've just performed, tt seems to me that when you do add an inflight aircraft to a strike mission, it will try to navigate to the Initial Point.

Edit :
please note that we can add waypoints to the 'Flightplan' :
Under Help ---> Hotkeys there's a few tips listed for creating new waypoints and reference points.
Press and hold Ctrl key, select and drag existing waypoint. Do the same for adding additional reference points.
