This or Middle East?

Post by GenericWarGamer »

Sorry in advance for the question, but I am having a hard time deciding!

I see there is a bundle on offer but if I can't stretch my purchase that far which one would you go for? I do enjoy Vietnam as a setting, but the Mid East game seems equally interesting, as not many games cover that topic!

The engine seems to be better updated for Vietnam, as I read, and that is also coming to Mid East? Would I be better to go for Vietnam now and pick Mid East up after this update?

I'm new to this series, but I enjoy JTS Squad Battles and have played Panzer Campaigns briefly!

Thanks for any assistance

CSME 3.0, updated with the latest features and with the stock scenarios revamped and CSEE/SAI scripted -- this will be released as a free update (for current owners) by the end of this year, hopefully.

My personal two cents for CS Vietnam especially if you prefer to play solo against computer. With the Lua based Event Engine available to provide computer side with operational awareness, Vietnam scenarios are so, so much more against the AI than Middle East ones, where the AI has tactical but not operational awareness.

If you are a head to head player, Middle East has some truly epic linear tank battles etc. But Events are there for head to head scenario play as well, so I'd wait for Middle East 3.0 if I'd need to choose one now.

And this from someone who grew up with Avalon Hill's Arab Israeli Wars [:'(]

Thanks! I'm a solo player, so that is great to know and with what berto has replied I can happily wait to try the Mid East version when it is updated.

I am very much looking forward towards Middle East 3.0 as well! And yes, a free update it will be for owners of the game.

I personally like that the ME game has a Battle Generator. Unfortunately we have to wait for CS Vietnam to get one ☝️

"Living game patches" is where you will find the latest hot-fix patches.

You will for sure want to apply the current hot-fix patch to fix a significant Bootcamp 4 issue (loss of map labels). (Also if you are bold enough to try the Week In scenarios.)

"Living game" refers to the game will be patched and extended now and into the future.

Does this include steam versions?
Favoritism is alive and well here.

We don't know if the game will be available on Steam yet. That's up to Slitherine.
