Rail transport

Post by Wild »

If you are moving a unit by rail to a destination that will take multiple turns to reach, is it better to leave the units on the train for the journey or take them off the train at a rail yard and then entrain them again the next turn to finish the journey?

Leave them on the train, that way you dont have to pay extra costs for unloading and them loading them again.

When you transport units via a rail you have to "borrow" trains, and they stay with a unit until it is unloaded. This is what I remember from some conversations of a forum.
1. More trains are needed for a panzer division in comparison to a regular ID or they just have a different transport cost, but same amount of trains are needed?
2. If pazner divisions use a lot of trains then can it affect freight movement or it is almost irrelevant? I am not talking about rail capacity and its overloading. Just from a "train" perspective.

Broadly agree with the above, only slight consideration the other way would be that if you leave them on the train my understanding is that they will consume rail capacity in the next logistics phase? I'm not sure how much difference that would make but it might be worth keeping an eye on if you would be leaving them on an extended single line near to the front without any big local railyards?

I think if you are only moving one or two units the cost you have to pay is relatively low so you might as well just ignore it.

Thanks for the replies guys. I was worried about using extra rail capacity by leaving them on the train. But if the cost is low I won't worry about it.
