Do units of other allied country located in Russia surrender if the USSR surrenders?

Post by Jackmck »

I think it is only Allied units in Vichy France that will surrender when France surrenders; otherwise, when a major power surrenders, i.e. the USSR, units of other Allied countries in its territory will stay in place, right?

I know German units in Italy stay in place (except Rome) if Italy surrenders outright. Likewise, Indian units in Chinese territory stay in place if China surrenders. I'm not sure about about Chinese or Indian units in Russian territory, but my guess is that they will remain in place in the USSR should it surrender.

A slightly related question- say Mongolia activates as an ally of the USSR, then the USSR surrenders, what happens?

Appreciate any insight on this

If the Axis choose to divide the USSR, then any Allied units in the eastern portion that is given to Japan would be lost, so if that situation is likely to happen then it'll be best to evacuate them beforehand.

Allied units located in Vichy France or its colonies surrender when France surrenders. So don't leave your Brits in Algeria or Tunisia...

I put it in this thread so as not to multiply it unnecessarily (perhaps a general thread of doubts should be opened, which at least I haven't seen).

Once the USSR surrenders, are their partisan points still active or are they nullified?

Shouldn't they be increased? [8D]

Well, that's a very interesting observation. As if the Soviet surrender was only in the European zone, creating a neutral Siberian state that could not declare war on anyone in 12 turns?

That would be interesting. But what I was thinking is that just because the Soviet government surrendered would not translate into the people suddenly embracing their Nazi occupiers. OK, some might for a while, until the Nazis start being Nazis. I would expect Germany would have to continue to invest in its occupation force.

If the USSR is split those in the eastern Japanese-held portion will cease to be active. But those in the west will continue.
